Before You Get Married - Wedding Information

1) Do we both have to be present at the Clerk's Office to apply for a license?


Yes. Both of you must sign the application form and take an oath to the accuracy of the information provided

 

2) How much is the license?


The fee for the marriage license is $93.50. This fee is reduced to $61.00 for Florida residents who have completed a premarital preparation course

 

3) What do we need to get a marriage license?


Both of you must provide proof of the following:

  • You must complete an application form
  • Provide proof that both of you are 18 years of age
  • You both must have a driver's license, state ID, military ID or passport.
  • You must provide your Social Security Numbers. Non-citizens may provide a Social Security Number or an Alien Registration Number issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
  • If either party has been previously married, you must note on the application how and when the marriage ended.

4)Where do I get it?


A marriage license may be obtained Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at any one of the following offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court:

5) How long do we have to wait?


The good new for out of towners is there is no waiting period for NON-RESIDENTS

 

For our Florida residents, there is a 3 day waiting period unless you take the pre-marital prep course

 

5) How long is the marriage license valid?


Florida marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the issue date. The marriage ceremony must be performed between the effective date and the expiration date on the license.

 

6) Do we have to be from the United States?


No. There is no citizenship or resident requirement.
